We Are Listening, Too by William Thomas Renouncing War Never before have so many been so motivated to make known their revulsion to war and all who advocate it. With the climate change upon us, and the White House warning its NATO allies of its impending attack on Iran and its Chinese and Syrian allies, abolishing war "is an idea whose time has come," says American historian Howard Zinn. Is it possible? Soon internationally renowned celebrities will be asking for your signature to outlaw war forever. 01/09/06 http://www.willthomas.net/Convergence/Weekly/Ending_War.htm _________________________________ http://wtc7.net http://www.gnn.tv http://www.nologo.org http://www.phreak.org http://www.oilempire.us http://www.nukewatch.com http://www.sondra.net/al http://www.feistyfolk.com http://portlandwriters.com http://www.indiantrust.com http://www.crayonpeople.com http://www.bejeezuszine.com http://www.digitalodyssey.org http://www.deadtankdistro.com http://perkinsmusic.tripod.com http://www.blackspotsneaker.org http://www.drawingresistance.org http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com http://www.studentsfororwell.org http://www.questionsquestions.net http://www.textfiles.com/magazines http://www.brendanorrell.blogspot.com http://www.clamormagazine.org/amc/index.html http://www.attackfromwithin.org/docs/base.php http://www.geocities.com/fistfulofbees/fob1.txt http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=5125 http://www.janisian.com/article-internet_debacle.html http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0404/S00024.htm http://dc.indymedia.org/feature/display/93605/index.php http://dc.indymedia.org/newswire/display/93677/index.php http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060110/1052664.asp http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/chapter1.html http://www.brokenpencil.com/reviews/reviews.php?reviewid=3126 http://newswire.indymedia.org/en/newswire/2004/04/801678.shtml http://www.bubblemonkey.org/cheesencrackers/txt/007-conclusion.txt http://www.network54.com/Forum/285990/message/1133571495/INVESTIGATION+OF+REVERSAL http://www.sfgate.com/chronicle/pictures/2006/01/13/011306-950x314-badreporter.gif __ _ / /_(_)___ ___ ___ _____ / __/ / __ `__ \/ _ \/ ___/ / /_/ / / / / / / __(__ ) \__/_/_/ /_/ /_/\___/____/ Friday 13 O'Clock issue 458 9:25 PM 1/9/2006 -------------> 8:32 PM 1/15/2006 full moon, didja catch it??? LETTUCE *The Alive in Baghdad Project * Friends and comrades, Brian Conley, a close friend of mine, has just arrived back from Baghdad. He is not a soldier, but an independent journalist. For those of you who do not know him, Brian "Sharpie" Conley is a dedicated global justice activist. He is primarily known for his work with Indymedia, doing documentary work on the 2001 Presidential Inauguration, the FTAA summit protests in Quebec City and Miami, FL, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, and other important people and events in the global struggle. Brian has embarked on a project called Alive in Baghdad (http://www.aliveinbaghdad.org) which has taken him through Amman, Jordan meeting with Iraqi victims of US torture and Iraqi refugees. From Amman his travels took him to the heart of the resistance against US occupation, Baghdad, Iraq. Making his trip at great personal risk Brian has brought unfiltered news out of Iraq and to the people of the world. His website which has documented new cases of torture in Iraq has had over 40,000 visitors in one month. The antiwar movement needs just such work at this time, with no other independent English-language news leaving the country. Brian is now setting off for a national speaking tour called "In Their Own Words: Iraqi Perspectives on the Occupation" Brian will be speaking at community organizations, churches, and college campuses. He will be using video of Iraqi's discussing their daily life, their opinion of the resistance, their opinion of Americans, and a message from Iraqi's to the American people. Brian is asking for a speaking fee/ honorarium of $500 plus travel expenses. All money collected from the tour will help Brian return to Baghdad, so he can continue providing on-the-ground reporting from Iraq. If these fees would prevent your group from hosting Brian, please contact us work something out. Brian is booking speaking engagements now. First, I am asking each one of you to check out the Alive in Baghdad site at http://www.AliveInBaghdad.org There you will find Brian's writings, a biography, a description of the project, and a newswire of many Iraqi blogs. There is also a page from which you can make a tax-deductible donation to the project. Please link to this website, put it in on your blog or livejournal, and mention it to your friends. Spread the word about this project and speaking tour. in love and struggle, Siempre en la lucha! Jeff Rae Marco, Here's a quote for you: "Some people may be offended by things they find in here. If you're like me, you'll wish to keep up to date on this important issue as it pertains to your own life. No matter WHERE you live. This is obviously no longer just a George Orwell, Britain, USA type phenomenon. It's the world over. I could joke and say it's wherever George W. Bush speaks publickly, he leaves behind a wake of torture, death and destruction. Why just today he stood next to the new German Chancellor and challenged each and every one of us to go inspect Guantanamo and see for ourself that nothing but democracy and good vibrations is going on there. Hmmm. Did I have a flashback? You betcha. General Lemoine the two-star at Fort Benning Georgia defending SOA to each and every protester!!! Colonel Weidener about the same thing. The entire USAREC about the same issue as well. And guess what? Bush might as well be defending the SchoolOfAssassins. In fact, he prolly teaches there, huh? But I digress. Here are some handy links to help you watch this trial with a discerning eye. Includes topical stuff about Diaz raid! Grazia was taking a cab to the Diaz school during the G8 protests so she could write up other things she'd just seen, when suddenly her driver tried to take three different side streets instead of going directly. Why? Each new street near there had rows and rows of what looked like black block, yet they were smoking cigars and stanced in such a way that they were obviously law enforcement people working for the Berlusconi government. She saw it multiple times so she was sure of what she saw. She said she knows of Black Bloc people who were not police, but they were definitely outnumbered by those who were acting the roll of infiltrator. http://mke.indymedia.org/en/2004/06/201292.shtml [Update Saturday: This story seems to be cycling around England, some of Europe and Canada, but for the past 2 days has yet to touch the continental United States.
